O-ring Information

![]() Oring Materials Buna - Also known as Buna-N, Buna-T, NBR, Nitrile. They are all made of the same material, Butadiene Nitrile. These are the typical orings that come on almost every paintball gun. They are the cheapest, the most common and come in black color. The Durometer hardness is A70. If you are unsure what material to buy this is the default material to go to. Urethane - Orings of this material are traditionally higher quality than Buna. They come in many different durometers. They are usually a clearish color. Harder durometers like a A90 durometer urethane orings are often solid white instead of being clear colored. VitonĀ® fluoroelastomer - These are slightly harder and slightly more durable orings from the Buna. Durometer hardness is typically A75. They are usually black but can be a greyish or brownish color. HNBR - Also known as High-Temperature Buna-N (Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber). These are the green orings you see. They are similar to Buna, except the material is hydrogenized (saturated with hydrogen to improve resistance to heat and ozone). They should hold up longer than urethane or buna, while maintaining the same durometer as the Buna rings. Oring Shapes Round - Typical orings you are used to seeing on paintball guns. Cross section is round in shape. ![]() X ring- Also known as Quad ring, Quattro Seal, Double Seal. These are special o-rings made in an "x" cross section shape for a double sealing surface. The idea is that the quad ring won't be able to twist and bend when the part moves since they aren't circular. They also should allow for lighter seals since the surface of the quad-ring sealing against the part is smaller. This should allow for less pressure required to move the part though this may be extremely negligible in paintball gun. There are only certain places you would want to install an x ring. You would want to replace any oring that has movement over it, either when the oring is stationary but something slides over it or when the oring is on something that slides. You also want to make sure that the x ring has constant contact with a surface. You do not want an x ring in an area that goes into and out of contact with something as the x shape of the ring can get caught and pulled off. When using quad rings you must experiment with them. They may leak or cause other issues. They may or may not work in all applications. You will need to try and see if your results are positive. ![]() Oring Sizes and Locations on Macdev Products The charts below have the information as: Location (Oring Size) - Oring Description - Part number from McMaster-Carr Part numbers can be plugged into and bought from http://www.mcmaster.com Macdev Clone VX Drivetrain Bolt Keg Inner (017) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K71 Bolt Keg Outer (020) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K74 Bolt Tip (014) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K58 Bolt Bumper (15x1) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9262K444 Bolt Switch (016) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K6 Spacer Inner (017) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K71 Spacer Outer (017) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K71 Valve Front (17x1) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9262K615 Valve Middle (17x1) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9262K615 - 75 Durometer Viton - 9263K553 Valve Rear (15x1) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9262K444 Valve Keg Outer (020) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K74 Powertube Tip (011) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K19 Powertube Mid (10x1) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9262K104 Powertube Cap Inside (020) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K74 Powertube Cap Outside (020) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K74 ![]() Macdev Drone DX Drivetrain Keg Inner (017) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K71 Keg Outer (020) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K74 Bolt Tip (014) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K58 Bolt Bumper (15x1) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9262K444 Bolt Switch (016) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K6 Valve (014) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K58 ![]() Macdev Gladiator Inline Regulator Swivel (016) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K6 Adjuster (008) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K16 Seat (6x1) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9262K103 Retainer Inner (008) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K16 Retainer Outer (011) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K19 Swivel (016) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K6 Bottomworks (016) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K6 Piston (016) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K6 Topworks (015) - 70 Durometer Buna - 9452K59 ![]() Credit for the Tactical Drone rings goes to Boomer... RE: O-ring Information
Here are the orings from the Clone GT. The drive and regulator sizes are taken from the manual, the others by disassembly and comparison. If I get to it, I will paste the manual diagram here with callouts to their locations. There are ALOT of orings in the subplate area, as expected with the air through.

RE: O-ring Information
Hi,
I live in French Guiana, south america, so it is more convenient for me to buy here than make an order. Can you please explain to me the characteristics of some orings: For examples: the O-ring 17: what is exact size? is that inches? what is the diameter of the "tore", what is the intern diameter of the O-ring? The O-ring M17: What does "M" means?what is the diameter of the "tore", what is the intern diameter of the O-ring? The material is "Perbunan", is it like Buna-n? They don"t precise if it is Durometer 70. So i can make my own O-ring kit here for my GT. Thanks, Fellouss The ma |

RE: O-ring Information
Hello,
I wanted to follow up on the question from Fellouss The sizes pointed out by Krazy8 and Boomer are US industry standard oring measurements. They are referred to as an O-ring's "dash" number. So when you see numbers like (011, 017, 020, 110) those are referring to AS568-011, AS568-017, AS568-020, AS568-110 sizes. I work for a rubber manufacture and would like to provide some help with some quick size cross reference information. Our store site has an online o-ring chart which list all AS568 o-rings in metric, inch and fractional dimensions. You can view this page here: http://www.rubberstore.com/catalog/as568...-chart.php Or if you prefer you can download our corporate PDF files on our manufacturing site's as568 o-ring page here: http://www.columbiaerd.com/as568_orings.php (the pdf files are on the bottom left side of the page) Very good post, and I hope the information on sizes helps your users.
